Butt grooves in backseat

So we have a scion tC and there is limited backseat space. The "butt indentations" in the seat design are making it hard to fit three across. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I feel like it would be SO much easier to fit the carseats if the entire back row was completely level, like a bench seat, you know? No rises or dips.

So anyhow, is there a safe way to add something to make it level? I don't know if that is allowed.

We know what you mean! We call it contouring and it can be a pain! Unfortunately you cannot add material to even out the seating surface. The best we can do is find seats that work with the shape of the seats. If you give us ages, heights, and weights for the kids and what seats you have now, we may be able to give recommendations of what might work better.

For many rear-facing seats you may be able to use a rolled towel or pool noodle for positioning if needed (depending on brand) but that's generally the only situation in which you can do that. Some seats are easier than others. Once we know what seats you're using we may be able to help more. :)
