We have a 2006 Honda Odyssey, which has a removable middle seat (jumpseat). We have read conflicting reports about whether a carseat may be installed in this jumpseat and have 3 across in the middle row this way. We are hoping to use this seat to accommodate our upcoming newborn boy, as well as a 20 mos old and 4 y.o. girl (forward facing) all in the middle row. We prefer to keep the back row free for our teen daughters since they are nearly adult size and having a carseat in the back will be a very tight squeeze for them.
Is it possible to use this middle jumpseat for a forward or rear facing carseat and then a pumpkin seat (infant seat) for our newborn on one side and a convertible carseat (Clek Fllo) on the other side? Alternatively, we would consider using a Ride Safer but am wondering about the safety of this vest when used daily for a 4 y.o in this narrow middle seat. Our older daughters would access the back with either of these plans by removing the pumpkin seat briefly, sliding and tipping forward the seat, then snapping the pumpkin seat back in place once the girls are in the back (this would only need to happen 1-2 times a week).
If this plan isn’t a safe one, then we would consider a rear facing clek filo in the 3rd row, middle, but it will be tight. I’m honestly also a bit nervous about the idea of a rear end crash with our 1 y.o. facing all the glass in the back, and also wondering if it is difficult to adjust this seat in a 3rd row middle configuration when rear facing?
