5-Stepping?

Anyone want to give me their input?

DD is turning 11 next week, approx 80lbs and 4'-8.5". I had been telling her she could ditch the booster in our SUV on her birthday because she really did 5-step, and then we traded in for a new (used) vehicle two weeks ago.

Old vehicle was a Saturn Outlook, new vehicle is a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder. The main problem is that the seats are deeper and I think she's a hair (like maybe 1/4") from having her knees truly bend at the edge of the seat (her feet easily touch the floor either way).

So thoughts? Let her ditch the incognito next time she asks? At the most I can keep her in it until May, that's when her booster in the Mazda expires and I think those seats are deeper also. She's grown 3-4 inches in the last year (an inch since school started) so it's possible she'll 5-step in that vehicle by summer also. :crying: my baby :crying:

Can she maintain that position? That's the main issue with knees not bending easily at the end of the seat; kids tend to slouch.

Honestly, I didn't really notice a difference in belt fit between her with her butt all the way back and having the knees bent, it was really only moved her about a half inch forward.

Maybe next time she's asks we'll do a trial period of short trips to school and around town and see how she does.
