Convertible Car Seat Recommendation

I'm planning to move my 7 month old to a convertible seat in a few months when the cold weather lets up. It's been several years since I've had to research and buy a convertible seat. It seems that most of the seats I remember looking at for my older daughter aren't popular anymore. What convertible seats are recommended now? Right now baby girl is 16 lbs 25 inches at 7 months. Will most likely be average weight and on the short side. Hoping to spend $200 or less but figured if I decided on a seat soon I could watch for sales.

Through my own research the 2 seats I was looking at were the Maxi-Cosi Vello and Safety 1st Grow N Go EX Air. Any opinions on either of those seats?

The Vello is big front to back and not highly recommended. It's harder to install than others.

The Grow and Go EX Air is great. Any of the Grow and Gos would work for you, since you don't have a large child.

You could also look at the Graco Extend2Fit, Graco Headwise/My Size/Fit4Me/Size4Me, Graco Contender, Britax Roundabout, Safety 1st Guide 65, Cosco Scenera Next.

Grace Milestone is my favorite convertible. It is low profile, which makes it easy to load the child. It is also easy to install, clean, and adjust. I have had 7 different convertibles at all different price points and the Graco Milestone is my favorite. It retails for $230, I think, but can often be found on sale for around $200 or less. I bought mine with the babies r us trade-in event last year (they often do it around this time of year...) and it ended up around $175.

My second favorite is the Britax Roundabout.
