How dangerous is this?

And what do I do about it?

2 year old has decided that the appropriate way to ride in his (RF) car seat is to put his hands back through the harness. He's not moving the chest clip, so he's still mostly harnessed. Right now he wants to fold his hands on his belly, with harness crossing at his wrists. A few days ago, he was just pulling one arm through as far as possible and got one shoulder out of the harness (chest clip hadn't moved.)

We're doing holiday travel, so right now it's only manifesting on the really long drives. We got to listen to him repeatedly scream "Nobody touch it!" for a solid 90 minutes Saturday while I restrained his hands. We still have a ways to go tonight...

I told my 20 year old brother to get his hands out of his pockets or put the lap belt under his arms over the weekend. It just doesn't seem good for all the pressure from a seat belt in a crash to press on fingers or wrists. Not sure if it's less of a concern with a harness. Can you tighten the harness enough that he can't get his hands in? Ear plugs for the rest of you? (Not for the driver). Good luck!

His belly squishes. I don't think we could get it tight enough that he couldn't get his hands through.

I'm thinking the buttoned shirt over the harness would work, but we literally own zero in his size, and have been doing holiday travel since several hours before it started. I think I'll try to buy a couple tomorrow unless anyone comes up with a better solution.
