Graco Contender on air plane

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had expericence with the Contender/Dimensions forward facing on an air plane, does it generally allow the tray table to come all the way down? It's a pretty thick (front to back) seat so I was wondering if maybe it was to close to the seat in front for the tray to come down.
thank you

As far as I have heard, very few seats allow the tray table to come down. I believe the Diono convertibles are compact enough, and maybe a few combination seats (forward-facing harness/booster). I would wager it would not work with your seat.

The Safety 1st Guide 65 and its clones also allow the tray table to fold all the way down. Few combination seats do, because their arm rests get in the way.

I've had a Graco Tranzitions forward face and the tray table mostly comes down. But with a convertible up on a high base like a Contender definitely won't allow the tray table to come down.

About the Costco Serena (or the previous Safety 1st Scerena which I could borrow from my friend) I know they are good travel seats because narrow and light but we might drive 4-5 hours also, those seats have almost no padding and I'm scared my kid will get uncomfortable (bottom, back, back of head)... what do you guys think?

My kids have never had issues with lack of padding in a seat while they were still in diapers. And the only kid that has had issues with comfort in a seat after potty training, had issues with a Britax Frontier, which is one of the most padded seats. I think it had more to do with the 12 hours in the car than with the seat itself.
