How much is average for a child to gain in a year?

I know it probably varies a lot by each individual child, but I'm trying to guess about how much my dd will weigh next year. I don't think I'm going to keep her RF to exactly 33 lbs, but I want it to be closer to 30 lbs. I'm going to wait until she is 3 and see how much she weighs then and decide if I want to keep her RF or turn her FF.

Anyway, she is petite, I think she was in the 25th% or less for weight. She was 23 lbs 13 oz and 33.5 inches at her 2 year old check up.

Do you think she could realistically be between 28 and 30 lbs when she is 3? (Those are the weights I want her to be before turning her FF even though she could RF to 33 lbs.

My plan right now is to wait until both kids are 3 and then decide from there whether they will still RF or be FF, no matter what, both kids will RF to at least 3 though.

I have no idea if this is average but my ds was 20 lbs at 1, 26 at 2 and 31 at 3. Those are all without shoes. He's 3.5 now and 32.6 lbs naked but 34.6 with clothes and shoes on.

Pacey was 27 lbs. at 2 years old and is 28-28.5 lbs. at 3 years old (he's a month away). He's only in the 18th percentile for weight. At this rate, he won't reach 33 lbs. until about 4 years old...and unless his head reaches the top before then, he'll still be rear-facing.

I like this calculator... http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/usefultools/l/bl_percentiles.htm

You'll still have to look at a growth chart...but I like the calculator anyway!

My dd was almost the exact weight and height at 2 as your dd is. She was 36 inches and 28 lbs when she turned 3. She was 38.25inches and just a touch under 31 lbs when she turned 4 in Sept. So, yeah, it's totally possible your dd will be between 28 and 30 lbs at 3 years.

My dd tends to grow over the summer. She usually stays at pretty much the same height and weight all winter... or grows veeerrryyy slowly. Then she'll gain a few inches and pounds over the summer. Or, at least, that's been the trend so far...

I totally can't remember dd's weight at her 2yr check up - I'm thinking 24lbs? At her 18mo check-up she was a few ozs shy of 22lbs. At her 3yr check up she was 30lbs. I know last January she was hovering around 27/28lbs, so she gained the last 2lbs in around 4 or 5months - she has had a few big growth spurts since the end of last winter though... she's all the sudden 91%ile for height & outgrowing 3T pants when last winter she wore 24mos until her first growth spurt.

So I'd say it's possible, but hard to say for sure.
