Cco infant insert questions

I'm going to install our Cco today for my 4.5 month old. He's about 14 lbs. On the cover the seat came with yrs ago the insert says use until 16#'s or something. On the newer cover I'm putting on it say MUST be used until 25 lbs. I find this crazy! He gets a much better fit with out it...

Any information on this? Is this a MUST? I'm using the older seat so not sure why I should have to use the insert that long. We're there changes to the actual seat later?

They say it is a must, but say that's also based on biometrics.

I personally am 100% comfortable not using it with a kid who doesn't need it for positioning and tolerates the angle fine. And have, with my kids.

Unrelated to your question, but how old is your seat? There have been a couple recalls.

You might have taken care of them, but just in case.

I agree with KQ re: the insert.

I replaced the harness. I haven't called yet about the 2nd recall. I've never used the seat FFing, but will fix it just in case.
