Cosco Highback 2-in-1 Booster Car Seat

how do you guys feel about the safety for a 12 month old about 23-24 pounds in this car seat? i feel like its still to large for her, and this is the carseat her dad wants to put her in( were separated) i just want her to be safe and cant find the specs for children on it online

The Cosco Highback is a forward-facing-only carseat, and it's safest to keep kids rear-facing to at least age 2, ideally longer. In some states it's now the law that kids under 2 must be rear-facing.

So a Cosco Highback would not be a good choice. It's a lousy seat anyway because it won't get most kids to the point where they're ready for a booster and you'd have to buy another harnessed seat anyway (it has very low top harness slots).

Would you like recommendations for a suitable seat? If so, what is the child's height, and is there a specific budget in mind?

Perhaps suggest that dad swap it out for a Cosco Scenera Next. They have them at Walmart, they're very inexpensive, and then encourage him to rear-face her in it.

I agree that the seat he has isn't the best choice for her, though it is likely legal. So encourage SAFER, because she might very well meet the 'box stats'.
