Question Help! DD miserable over hot seat!

My DD's Parkway SGL in tango gets really hot if the car is in the sun, so much so this normally easy going kid gets very, very upset. I try to park so it's not, but the sun moves and that's not always possible. We've tried covering it with a towel if it's in the sun, but it still gets hot. Is it the seat? If it is, I think all this seat's covers would have the same problem due to their similarity, right? She loves this seat, but it's almost outgrown. Or is it our car's (newer forester) big windows? I so wish we'd gotten the tinted windows when we could get them at factory cost and am almost thinking of doing that now, but that's a lot of money and we have a lot of medical expenses at the moment. Bottom line, any ideas to help? TIA!

Have you tried these? I wonder if they really fit a big booster. Based on reviews, sounds like the Britax may actually be better (more durable, better fabric) and it's $20 on amazon with prime shipping, so I may try it.

My car (side airbags) forbids 3d things on windows, so I can't use most window shades, but I wonder if they sell actual static cling film I could put on or if that would work or what are the cons.

P.S. Checked Britax cover on their website for booster compatibility. It says it's compatible with their newer style seats including the parkway sgl, but not our older Frontier. I wonder if it really wouldn't work with the older Frontier, or it just hasn't been tested.

I saw where someone had put ice packs in seats. Not actual ice, but the kind you stick in lunch boxes.

I had this problem with our Britax convertibles. I tried everything, but the car seat cooler and the cover. Finally, I just replaced the seats with other convertibles that were lighter in color and had a different fabric. I don't know what it was about the Britax fabric but it just seemed to really hold and absorb the heat.

Here's a car seat cooler. Wonder if you could come up with your own version for less?

This, too, which is removed when the child rides in it. ;)

Interesting idea, but I'm not 100% convinced. I'm not confident I'd always remember to put it back in the freezer or get it back out to take with us, I wonder how many hours it lasts before it thaws out, and I wonder how much of the big booster it covers. We'd still have to cover the seat with something else for all the areas and buckles it doesn't cover. But it would probably help.

Really? Which types of Britax fabrics have you had? Were they their newer (past several years) fabrics or the older softer velvety fabrics? I wonder if trying one of our older Britax seats with their nicer (older) fabrics (and somewhat lighter color) would help. My tall DD fits in very few boosters at this point, so we don't have a lot of options. I know what you mean about color though. They used to have such pretty lighter colored fabrics. Why they put so much black on, I don't know, but they're doing the same in car interiors. Recently, we rented a car with a black interior and I hated it.
