I like this quote for RF

Rear-facing is scientifically proven to be safer, and it’s a relatively simple precaution to take. The bottom line: Turning the car seat is not a rite of passage to be celebrated. Moving your kid to forward-facing is something you should do because you “have” to, not because you “get” to.

Thanks for posting. A Facebook friend posted her 4 littles in carseats, and said how one is happy to be a big girl now. This baby (she is I guess at least 1?) is tiny, and she is FF. I just wince. It got 54 likes.

I don't want to say, hey RF that kid! But this baby honestly swims in that seat and it could so easily be turned. It is a giant Britax!

What would other do? This is very on my mind because a localish family recently lost a 2 and 4 YO in a crash (I know they had seats but no details). And no mother ever would want to live with, well, maybe she'd have survived if I'd ONLY done XYZ. I think if you have them as safe as you can, then you've done all you can and no need to fret or regret. But if could do more, then there is always that chance you'd never forgive yourself. And I don't mean we all have to live in bubble wrap, but FF a tiny tot just scares me.

It is so hard when you want to say something but the parent most likely won't respond well.

I can't find what site I found that quote on.

I did just find a great site, csftl.org, car seats for the littles. That sight says RF minimum age 2, ideal is as close to age 4 as possible.

I'd respectfully remind you that the site you're on NOW (car-seat.org) also emphasizes best practice.

This post from our sister site, CarseatBlog, has lots of info on why rear-facing is better: http://carseatblog.com/5168/why-rear-facing-is-better-your-rf-link-guide/

We have a Facebook page, as does CarseatBlog.
