Diono harness rules

So I know that most (all?) current Diono convertibles have a rule that allows the harness to be below the child's shoulders as long as their ears are below the shell. Has anyone used the harness until their child's shoulders surpassed the top slot?

I have. I'm very comfortable with it given what I know about the science.

I haven't had a kid make it all the way to ears even with top, they tell me it's uncomfortable before then.
