Older model Ford Excursion

I did a search but couldn't find anything, I apologize if this has been covered before. We are considering buying an older model Ford Excursion (around 2005 or so). Trouble is, the ones I have seen have a third row with no head rests at all. I know this would be ok for car seats and some boosters, right? But I wouldn't seat an adult there. Do you suppose I could special order a third row seat with head rests so they are all useable seating positions?

This isn't the particular vehicle we are looking at, but it has pictures of that model and you can see what I mean: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Use...dPaidSearchNoZip#listing=146911994_isFeatured

Any other reasons a Ford Excursion might not be a good choice safety/car seat wise?

How many kids do you have that would be riding in the suv? What seats are they currently riding in?

I would try and get the head rests in the third row. I'm not sure if Ford would be able to do that, but it doesn't hurt to contact Ford about that.

I have no info/knowledge about adding headrests to the third row, but did want to address another aspect that might matter to you or for lurkers considering a Ford Excursion purchase: The Excursions from any model year are LATCH exempt - vehicles over a certain gross vehicle weight rating (8500 lbs.) are not required to be manufactured with any LATCH equipped seating positions. The presumption/assumption when LATCH regulations were originally enacted was that vehicles of this type/size or larger were intended primarily for commercial/industrial/agricultural use rather than family hauling, an unfortunate assumption given how many families do opt for one. Consequently, none of the Excursion models have any lower LATCH anchors if you were hoping to LATCH in a LATCHable belt positioning booster, or to install a harnessed carseat using lower LATCH anchors instead of installing with the vehicle seatbelt. Despite being LATCH exempt, Excursion models do have factory equipped top tether anchors for each second row vehicle seating position, and for the third row passenger side in 2002-2005 model years, but there are no top tether anchors in the third row at all for 2000-2001 model year Excursions, and no top tether anchors for the third row center or third row driver's side in any Excursion models. Ford has no retrofit top tether anchor capability for retrofitting Excursion models with any additional top tether anchors in the third row (nor is there any capability for retrofitting lower LATCH anchors if you also were wondering about that).
