Volvo XC90-boosters not working in it

We just got a 2016 Volvo xc90 but our boosters are not working.

11yo dd is in a Recaro Probooster (the older one that does not latch). when we drove the first time she had to grab the from seat head rest as we were turning because her seat was tipping so far over!
11yo is certainly ready for a lowback (she is in a incognito in my Odyssey) so maybe I'll get her another one of those for the volvo.

7yo is in a cybex xfix (expires next spring) this works fine, but dd is getting so tall it is not supporting her legs, so thinking of trying to find a better solution for her. I prefer her to be in a fullback, she needs to be reminded to stay in her seat still and the headrest helps her. She is 52in and approx 58pds.
So open to suggestions for this kiddo please :)

An igcognito sounds like a good option for the 11yo. For the 7yo perhaps a Diono booster? Both have latch in them.

I don't know what the answer is but I used to have a volvo with non removable or adjustable head rests. I don't know what the answer is. I harnessed as long as I could.

We used a Clek Oobr, that when used with LATCH, had a recline mode that worked well with our Volvo headrests.

What about the built in booster for the 11yo?

We just bought an older model I'm getting ready to fit for seats. My 6yo actually fit into the built in booster nicely but she's not ready to ride in in full time.

Assuming the belt fit is good and it isn't expired (I'm not sure how expiration works with built in boosters) and they are within the limits that should work!

We also just got a 2016 XC90 and my 6YO son and 8YO daughter have decent fits with our Diono Montereys in HBB mode. I haven't LATCHed them in yet because they are moving among vehicles right now. The headrests don't interfere significantly IMO, especially when the Monterey headrest is lower down- must have been one of the many changes they made for the 2016s.

My kids haven't been weighed/measured since last year but my DD was the exact same size as your 7YO in December and still has the same proportions.

There didn't seem to be many XC90s available with the built-in booster and we couldn't get one that had the other stuff we wanted, so we don't have one. The built-in booster is only in the 2nd row center, anyway, and my kids need to be separated in the car! I think the 2017s will offer the built-in boosters on the 2nd row outboard instead of center, which sounds awesome.

Wanted to add that the Diono Monterey boosters work well in the 2nd row outboard positions. I tried my daughter in the middle 2nd row with the Monterey and the headrest in that seat did interfere a bit with the booster. Haven't tried the 3rd row.

Here are the photos of the Montereys in our 2016 XC90. There is a small gap in some spots between the back of the booster and the vehicle seat. It is more pronounced in the second photo where the Monterey headwings are higher up for my 8YO.

It seems like as they get taller, though, the vehicle headrests are going to push the boosters forward more and more, though?

Yes, I think as the booster headrest goes up the fit against the vehicle seat will get worse rather than better. It may be that I will need to change to backless mode sooner than I would have otherwise preferred.

Right now I am ok with the way the boosters fit against the seat although a tech may chime in to confirm or refute that.
