Did carseat break seatbelt?

I installed a Graco Extend to Fit RF, easily with no problems. It was very tight, as an install should be. (I did not uninstall it so not sure if anything could have happened there). It was installed for 2 days.

Now the seatbelt cannot be pulled across one's lap. It's a newer Honda CRV. The "thing must go in the thingy" to pull the belt across one's lap. And it's not working.

What broke? Did the seat cause this?
I am not with the CRV to see but getting the info over the phone from my relative. Picture didn't help really; it's hard to explain I think.

Confused!

I'm not sure what you mean. What thingies are you talking about? Is it a middle belt where you have a mini-buckle on one side?

Is the belt locked and not unlocking?

Can you post the photo?

Outboard passenger side.

Since I don't have the car here, it's hard to say.
The belt cannot be pulled across the lap properly, somehow. I do not think the belt is locked.

Once I see it I'll know more. But I cannot picture it, exactly.
That's the only info I have so far. Hmmm.

(No, the photo isn't postable as it's on a phone and I have no idea how to do that, nor have I used internet on my phone ever.) I cannot even post from my desktop in general. Always "fails."

Is there a little button or a sewn area on the seat belt that is meant to keep the latch plat from sliding down to far and getting lost? Did the latch plate get forced to the other side of the button/sewn area (between the button/sewn area and its anchor point) and cannot be slid back to the proper side?

If it is a button it will likely break off. If it is a thick sewn area pull the latch plate just as hard in the opposite direction to get the latch plate on the correct side of the thick sewn area.

It sounds to me like the belt is locked but not retracting properly to disengage the ALR (locking). Maybe there is a twist in the belt that is jamming the retractor. A body shop might be able to help if that is the case.

My suspicion is that it's a belt with a buckle for the latchplate, and a second buckle type thing for the male end of a ceiling-mounted belt. They probably cannot get the belt end to plug in... is it perhaps backwards?

Can they put something (key, buckle tongue) in the disengage "slot" to see if maybe it's just stuck partway in position?
