Question Frontier Click Tight

Short Version:
Please tell me how easy it is supposed to be open the Click Tight on the Britax Frontier.

Long Version:
DS finally outgrew his RFing seats, but due to his bone-age delay, we want to keep him harnessed, so we got a Frontier (manufacture date is Apr 2016).

We heard they were SO easy to use, and it was really easy to install: buckle (no tightening), close click tight, and the seat doesn't move, then attach tether.

The problem comes when we try to OPEN the click tight. We can pinch one side, but not the other. If we push the other side into the open position, the first side goes back closed. It takes both my husband and me using ALL the force of both our hands to get the click tight open on both sides so that we can uninstall the seat. Is this NORMAL? If not, what do I do?

Try unbuckling the seatbelt before opening the Clicktight, sometimes there is too much tension on the seatbelt. Also make sure you're not locking the seat belt when installing or over tightening it.

We're definitely not locking the seatbelt.

As far as I know, we're not creating any tension in the seatbelt. All I did was remove slack, so that it laid straight across the belt path, instead of bunching. The seatbelt was completely loose before closing the click tight. I did not pull it up into the retractor at all.

I'll try unbuckling first next time and see if that helps.

Definitely unbuckle the seat before trying to open the click tight mechanism. should be super easy to open after you unbuckle

Mine isn't super easy after unbuckling. One side is easy, the other side takes some force.

But it's impossible without unbuckling.

This is mine too. The side that takes force is hard but doable with my more dominate hand.

I've had a hard time undoing the clicktight as well. What really helps is to make sure I'm pushing down hard on the seat while opening the clicktight. Once I learned that trick I haven't had anymore problems.

I believe the manual says to unbuckle the seatbelt before opening the CT panel. I've never had a problem opening when I unbuckle the seatbelt first.

Yes, unbuckle first. What you described tends to happen if I don't unbuckle it first.
