Which is safer - 2011 Honda Pilot or 2006 XC90?

My mom watched a 60 Minutes episode about seatback defects causing front seats to collapse in rear end collisions, injuring the child in the back seat. The program said that only three car makes are safe - Volvo, BMW, and Mercedes.

Should we sell our 2011 Honda Pilot and buy a 2006 Volvo XC90? The mileage is the same. Which would be safer?

I give a lot of weight to overall occupant protection. Have you checked Informed For Life? That is a great resource for comparing vehicle safety. http://www.informedforlife.org
