We are currently in the market for a used 7+ passenger vehicle. I am specifically looking for 2000-2005 model years. Right now there are only 2 kids but we have expansion plans. What is your short list for these year ranges?

At the top of my list so far is another honda odyssey. My SO is very interested in a suburban or tahoe and we have also looked at a Durango.

Minivans with all shoulder belts & headrests:

- Avoid Caravan / T&C / Voyager
- All Ford Freestars
- All Uplanders have shoulder belts, but missing 1 headrest middle 3rd row
- 1999+ Odyssey
- 2004+ Nissan Quest
- 2004+ Sienna
- 2006+ Sedona LWB

Tahoe/Yukon and Durango will offer you ZERO space for a growing family, we've had a Durango. With four kids we drive a suburban and it's perfect. My 06 has had zero mechanical issues to date. Our 05 Nissan Quest captain chairs belt geometry was terrible for car seat installs.

Does anyone know how the Chevy Venture (2005 LS specifically) compares mechanically to a sienna?

I wouldn't recommend one. Ours had power steering and transmission issues. My in laws had two with catastrophic engine failure at less than 100k miles.

On the flip side of this, my 2005 sienna has nearly 140k and has never needed more than routine maitenance :)

We just purchased a 2006 Ford Freestar and I love it! We only have 2 kids as well, and for now they are in the captain chairs and we keep the 3rd row seat folded down unless we have extra folks traveling with us, which is nice. Super comfy travel vehicle.

Yeah. Still driving my 2004. 173K and nothing more than maintenance and a handful of very minor issues in almost 12 yrs.

We just got the same thing yesterday. :) It will be our second vehicle and we'll have 5 kids any day. So far we really like it!
