I have a question with the harness hieght of the Nextfit, is the states harness hieght with or without the cover? When I measure with the cover its not 17 inches, I had called Chicco before about the rear facing limit and they told me that when you are determine where is the harness coming from you do it looking at were the harness is coming out from the cover and not to open the cover to see were the harness is coming out from behind the cover, we only talk about when the seat was RF and now I wonder if it's the same way when FF because it's not 17.5 with the cover on

I happen to be in the process of reassembling my Nextfit after an "unfortunate incident" with a sick child....so I have the cover off.

With the cover off, I measure right about 17.5" -- So with the cover on, 17-17.25" seems like it would make sense. Keep in mind that the cover will compress a bit with the weight of the child, though. So even if it's less than 17.5" with the cover on, it won't lose as much height as it seems.

Oh, I see! Interesting! I wonder if the curve of the back is causing the measurement discrepancies. I will have to measure mine with the cover on and see what I get. Which recline setting do you have it on?
