Spring Cleaning in the Winter Re: Car Seat Covers

I'm in the mood to clean...car seat covers that is! lol. I was dilligent about doing it when DDs were younger but slacked off a lot. Picture this: naked seats--2 FR85s, 1TB Nbb, 1 TB Hbb, and a GN piled on my couch. Then a pile of seat covers on the floor in the kitchen. DH is not due to come for 2.5 hours, so I have time lol. I have two questions (1 totally unrelated to cleaning):
  1. What do you use to spot treat stains without compromising the intergrity of the seat fabric?
  2. Totally unrelated but didn't want to post in a separate thread:p: Can the GN or FR85s be latched while in booster mode?

UPDATE: I couldn't wait for suggestions (before I ran out of steam). I ended up using a Cleaning Clay from H20 that came with a somewhat abrasive sponge. My arms hurts after all that scrubbing! All the covers are in the wash now. We'll see how it works. ;)

How'd the covers turn out? I'm not familiar with what you used.

Both combo seats can use LATCH while in booster mode.

Thank you for asking! They came out good! Not perfect though. I should've have posted before and after pics but was too embarrassed to do so. The Cleaning Clay is a natural home product made in France called "H2O At Home." Their products are very expensive but I got it from my sister who is a Rep. :) http://us.h2o-at-home.com/index.php/products

Never washed a cover until last year (it was a dirty one, an older seat).
Basically they always looked hard to take off (and even with sometimes taking it partly off to access something it never goes back on like new!).
But with no food/drinks rule the seats stay new looking all the time luckily.

I think newer seats have easier to clean covers, I hope.

I would love to wash all the flame retardant chemical junk out but probably it wouldn't work anyway.
I don't even know if our Foonf cover comes off. I don't think so.

If I do see a spot I will spot clean. I use a bit of dishsoap or carpet cleaner.

I wash my covers at least once a year and have yet to damage one. I just use regular Tide laundry detergent, cool water to prevent shrinkage, and then I air dry. I've never had a stain not come out, though they're usually minor stains.

Thanks! I never even thought of using carpet cleaner! Thankfully, the job is finito and the covers are back on their boosters. I must say that it was therapeutic to clean the covers! They look better than ever and I felt like I accomplished something lol. The living room is no longer being taken over by seats!:p
