I came across this video while shopping on Amazon:
Child Car Seat Buying Guide (Interactive Video) | Consumer Reports - YouTube
In general, I really like it. It doesn't cover every last detail or explain every exception to the rule, but I think it does a good job of explaining the basics for a parent who is unfamiliar with the world of car seats. This is the kind of video that I wish they showed at birth/parenting classes. I am surprised at how many people have never heard of LATCH, or don't know what it means if a seat has a no-rethread harness, or how many types of seats they should expect to need over the course of their child's lifetime, or have no visual for how tight a good install should be (they showed clips of a woman checking the install on a NEXT like 5 times!). I also think it does a good job of normalizing older rear-facers without sounding preachy.
Other thoughts/opinions?
