Buckle manufacturers/types on Convertible Car Seats

So for those who have been following my grandparent car seat woes on other threads, there's been another development.

I talked to my FIL today and he said that the trouble my mother-in-law is having is more to do with the buckle itself than the harness adjustment. It is really difficult for her to release the buckle on the Clicktight -- so much so that there have been times when she took my daughter somewhere and struggled so much with he buckle that she had to just drive back home so my FIL could open it.

The trouble is, it's an IMMI buckle, which is like the most common buckle out there. So I am trying to gather a list of other buckle types that she could try. Here's what I have:

1) Coccoro (puzzle buckle that you push down from the top instead of the front...obviously very limiting, since it isn't found on any high-capacity seats that I know of)

2) Dorel (small red circle button found on Cosco, Maxi-Cosi, Safety 1st convertibles)

3) Evenflo (half red circle button -- I have only seen it on Evenflo seats)

4) Diono (red square -- looks like IMMI but not)

Are there others that I am missing? Which is easiest to release?

If they'd just put the Cybex Aton buckle on some convertibles, I think we'd all be pretty happy!

As soon as I posted that, I thought of what may have been the obvious solution and ordered a buckle bopper to try. [emoji4]

Still curious about different buckle types, though!

As I read through your post, I immediately thought of the Buckle Bopper, lol. It helps with buckling too.

The Buckle Bopper was my first thought as well. Although my 5 year old has yet to master it.

Do you know if the buckle on the click tight is coming from under your dd? I had a horrible time undoing the buckle on our click tight advocate with dd. I moved it to the outer position and it's better...still not awesome but a definite improvement. It was like she grew in the bum area within a week. It wasn't completely under her but starting to be not in front of her if that makes sense. I was surprised to need to move it because she is tiny. At 17 months she is about 20 pounds and 30 inches, wearing 12 month bottoms.

That was my first thought when reading the post! Please post on how it is. I have contemplated getting one for myself as I seem to be developing arthritis in my thumbs. But I usually have a big kid with me when I am out with DD2, so have help if needed.

It does? How? I would think that it would claim something like that, but the website doesn't mention it.

You can use the side of the "stalk" of the bopper to push the buckle tongs down. It works better with some buckle designs than others.
