Car seat overlap Or side by side

So, I have a question but I haven't been able to get access to the tech forum because I don't have Internet in my computer and for some reason I can't do it with my phone....
I know about seatbelt overlapping but I wanted to know about car seat over lap and puzzling, what's allowed and what's not, which brand allow it? Which brand allow side by side pressing against one another?

All seats can touch or overlap. You just need to be sure they're each independently tight (not pushing something else out of position, and not feeling tight because it's wedged against something else).

Thanks that's what I thought but someone told me they read something different..... I did a 3 across that took me more then an hour just checking that all seats were independently installed, just wanted to be sure I am doing things right

Actually, Graco, Evenflo, and Diono have said they don't allow overlapping car seats.

I only actually saw that diono doesn't and supposedly Allanna asked Evenflo and they said no as well. I heard about Graco through the grapevine. (When I mentioned that the myride can be good at 3 across because it overlaps well.)

Have they clarified that it is the bodies of the seats that may not overlap and not just the LATCH straps or seatbelts?

I am confused! I recommend the Sureride next to a Topside just because is a norrow seat at the bottom and they puzzle well together

This is so ridiculous. At some point the real world has to take over in these rules the manufacturers make up and don't publicly explain. So glad I am a couple months away from boosters only as my youngest will turn 5 this year!

This is my view, too.

As for who said, It was Allanna, the cpst for diono and she claimed to have contacted evenflo. (I'm sure she did and she has contact with a guru evenflo tech.) I saw the screenshot of this.

Allanna also told me the diono and sk radian require vehicle head support as harnessed seat and booster (as applicable). She said the manual says so. The SK manual does not, so she conceded I could use as the manual indicates, but she wouldn't recommend it.

WTH? a harnessed seat needing head support now? This is bizarre.

This might be a rant but it's posts like these that make me think "perfect use" is impossible. How is the average (or below average!) parent supposed to know every single rule...? SMH

Right? I'm totally overwhelmed all the rules and all the choices, too, for that matter.
