Odyssey Headrests?

We just bought a 2012 Odyssey, and I am totally in love in every possible way except... I can't figure out the 3rd row headrests. It seems like they only have two modes- all the way down and all the way up. Is that correct? Because if so, that sucks. And doesn't make sense. All the way down, they don't provide head support for my kids back there. All the way up, they really impede my view and go way above where they need to for the kids. What's up?!

I think it has to do with the design of the magic seat. They should be all the way up if anyone is sitting in the position (or maybe removed if there's a car seat) and can go all the way down if the seat is unoccupied.
