What do all of you parents of older children do when people act surprised that your children are still riding in safety seats? My son is about to turn 6 and rides (happily) in a Husky. My sister-in-law is complaining that her 6-year-old daughter still "has" to ride in a carseat because none of her friends at school ride in carseats ... or boosters. The law in my state requires children to use carseats or boosters until 8-years-old, although few parents follow the law.
How can you not appear "holier than thou" when informing the other parents how unsafe it is for them to allow their children to ride in only a seatbelt?
I never approach parents who do not use safety seats, but some of these parents actually approach me asking why I still use a seat for my son or how I get him to sit in a seat. How? It's not really an option, so he's never objected.
Are there actually areas in the United States where a majority of parents follow child safety seat laws?

I have the local police station number programmed into my cell & I've already forwarned all the parents I personally know that I will report them. Beyond that, I keep a stash of flyers printed off the 'net in my car to leave on windshields & I've provided our school with the US Dept of Trans booster seat lesson plan >
