Question Moving Mommy

Hello - Due to an illness in the family and general homesickness, I am trying to plan ahead to relocate my family across the country (US) this summer. We moved to where we are now a few years ago while I was pregnant. At that time, our little family fit into our 1 car fairly comfortably, and our stuff moved in a separate moving truck. Now, we may be moving even further, and our family includes 3 adult-sized people, 1 toddler, and a cat, and our 1 car is not going to fit all of us for 20+hrs, especially if we take a more scenic route to visit family and friends. I had been thinking that an RV would be a safe, more comfortable option, but the more I read, the more & more unsafe I'm finding RVs to be. If it wasn't for the cat, we'd probably be Ok (if uncomfortable), but we are unwilling to leave our furrball behind. Does anyone have any suggestions for a safe, pragmatic (and hopefully inexpensive) way to relocate my family? All suggestions will be considered!

What about a large or extra large SUV with a dog sized crate in the back with a litter box and some food for the cat?

Or just put the cat on the floor in a cat crate and allow the cat out on a leash to use a box and walk every few hours when you stop for a walk and a toilet. Kat Kit makes great disposable boxes that are pretty small. Get a tarp to put under it in case of misses (I moved my passenger seat all the way back and my cat was able to use the box in the passenger footwell recently).

You could also fly the cat ahead of you, there are cargo companies that ship pets unaccompanied.

You could tow a fifth wheel RV and all of you ride in the SUV or truck pulling it.

Lots of options. :)
