Question subaru legacy and car seats

I'm looking at either leasing a subaru legacy 2015 (which I know is ok for car seats) or buying an older, used legacy. I know there have been some issues with subarus and car seats. What should I look out for? Are there any years that are particularly good or bad for car seats? Right now I'm looking for the ability to have car seats next to each other, 3 top tethers, easy-ish seat belt installs and the possibility of a 3 across. Thanks in advance!

We have an '02 legacy wagon, and the hump in the center of the backseat makes it challenging to get 3 across. There are 3 top tethers.

We have a 2015 Legacy. 3 across is a pain in the rear and extremely difficult. We use a Ride Safer vest for my 6.5 year old in the center so we can squeeze 3 in. The side contours of the seats cut in and angle in a way that prevents the full width of the back seat surface from being usable.

Thank you! Not what I was hoping to hear but it's good to know. What about fitting two car seats next to each other with a side seat open?

There really isn't much leeway for moving the center seat away from the adjacent seat much as there is a very slight raised area in the center.
