I was just looking at it too! Didn't have DS with me but I'm sure those headwings would drive him crazy.

I sat my 2 year old in that seat the other day and you're right. Holy head wings. They even look claustrophobic to me. The display model I checked out pushed his head forward too. Annoying. To bad though, because the padding seems so comfy.

Yeah, I keep seeing them at BRU and thinking they look both cool and awful. Those headwings are intense.

I love how they purposefully show a picture of the model child fake sleeping with her head up in this (the BRU poster in the store), I can't help but think they really would push heads so far forward it would be chin-to-chest every time.
A mom with older twins and a baby bought these because she was told they were narrow and great for 3 across, I kept asking if she was sure it wasn't the Maestro or SecureKid? Well, she hasn't been back to return them, so I guess they worked in her Accord. Looked kinda bulky to ME, but there must have been room for an infant seat or Radian or something with them.

My DH totally fell in love with the seat in the store when we went looking for a replacement Maestro for my parent's vehicle. So strange, long story short, they are keeping the Maestro we lent them and they purchased the Evolve for us. They are bringing it on Friday, so I will let you know how the first hand experience with it goes. We own an Argos and Defender already, so it should be interesting to see how it compares.

I will say my DS is ridiculously tall (99.7%) and skinny (15%), so I am not super concerned about the narrowness, but the wide headwings concern me a little since my kiddo likes to look out the window.

Oh, wow, yikes!!! Last time I let my DH talk me into a seat without testing my kiddo in it. As I mentoned, my kid is very tall and skinny, and he still was totally squished into the seat! The head wings are not only huge, but he had to move his head back and forth and push it back to fit it between the wings. No chance this was going to last my 3 year old for the 5-6 years at least we will need it for. Needless to say, it was returned to the store without even trying an install. We picked up a Nautilus with Safety Surround for the same price.

I will say a pro for the evole would be it was really well padded and the cup holders were really nice. Oh well, good concept, horrible execution...

Yeah, yikes, I don't know what head measurements they even tried to base these wings on
There was an old old Britax called the Wizard that had tiny little headwings, and they were lined with comfort foam, and kids' ears wouldn't even fit! They would lay their heads back, and the ears would flip forward next to their heads. They pretty quickly allowed removal of the foam (EPS was still in there, and it cleared up almost 2 inches of ear room). Too bad no one pays cso for focus groups about carseat design, some of us already know what the problems will be :D

I almost brought up the evil wizard headrest. Man that thing was narrow. This doesn't really look any better. Regarding focus groups. I live around the corner from evenflo's design headquarters. I took part in a fashion panel over the summer which was very very cool. It included a table of swatches and they let us design some combinations of fabrics which I thought was cool. I think they care on the end product from what I can tell but they really could have used a few kids for fitting and measurements on this seat.
