This is a bit of an older question resurrected, but from what I understand:
I can receive/be gifted and use a carseat made in the "grey area" just before 2012:
- as long as its within its expiry date
- and if the manufacturer verifies it still meets current regulations
If it is not verified to meet the 2012 regulations, it would be safe for the prior owner to use but I cannot receive or use it.
I have been gifted an Eddie Bauer SureFit, 22-699, manufacture date 2011-12-19.
I have not seen this model in any of the old threads about 2012-compliance. I have a number I can call and see from the car seat, but I don't know if they will even still answer that.
How else could I check, or does anyone know how I could?
I also can't imagine that a seat manufactured literally days before the new regulations wouldn't meet them, but I don't know.
