Nautilus as a Booster - LATCH Set Up

Can someone remind me what LATCH set up is permissible when using the Nautilus as a HBB? When I first got it, I remember there were all sorts of options but it has been a while now and know things have changed. Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by 'setup'?

You ARE able to use LATCH is HBB mode. It uses the FF belt path just like if you were installing it. It just doesn't need to be 'less than 1" of movement' tight.

Are you asking about LATCH borrowing? There are really no rules for use of LATCH in booster mode as it's not holding the child, just the booster. So pretty generally if, say, you wanted to borrow inner anchors from outboard positions just to LATCH a booster, and no one was in the outboard seats, I wouldn't have a problem with that in my personal vehicle. But there's nothing 'official'. Definitely wouldn't do that if there was anyone outboard as it would likely interfere with the seatbelt for that seating position.

Does that answer your question? :)

ETA: Just saw DogznKatz' response. Is that a new rule for Nautilus??? Because it didn't used to be as far as I know. ???

Coleen,

sorry for being confusing. I basically mean can you use the LATCH strap to hold the seat in place and use the seatbelt to hold in the child. When the nautilus first came out, there was a bunch of confusion. Do you use only the lower anchors, do you use the top tether, etc. when in booster mode. That is what I meant by set up.

I am gonna be a cranky lady if it is not LATCHable at all as that is news to me.

Ahhh, I understand!

I'm investigating because this is the first I've heard of it!

I just looked up the manual and it definitely is confusing! There are parts that seem to indicate that LATCH is not allowed, but that seems a little bizarre to me...I would call Graco.

I have conflicting sources....The SBS 2015 Summary says no, but the LATCH manual says tether and LA anchor use is ok with BPB.

Sorry and thanks for catching!

Confirmed! YES, you CAN use LATCH (LA and T) in HBB mode.

This comes from a reputable source who heard it directly from Graco in writing (thank you Kecia!) and we both agree that Graco should put this in their FAQs so it's in writing and people don't have to 'take our work for it'. (She is going to work on that through the mfg rep.)

Though I know in this case, CTB will take my word for it. ;)

I know several other friends using their GNs this way, so I'm very relieved to hear they didn't change the rule!

Dogz, no apology necessary. We're all human, and often mfgs change things up on us but there's no central repository where we can get an easy answer. Sometimes it's hard on us techs! I've often come across threads like this and learned something new. :)
