Help with 3 across in 2013 Ford Explorer

I have a 4.5 year old 45 lb in an Evenflo Secure Kid behind driver. A 2.5 year old FF in a Graco Myride 65 behind the passenger and I am expecting a third in October. I have a Chicco Keyfit 30 as an infant seat.

I am really really hoping to get all 3 in the 2nd row. (I have read in the past that it is not, but maybe there is some new combination of car seats that would make it doable??)

I am wondering if it would be possible to get the 4.5 year old in an IMMI Go (I would like to keep him in a 5 pt harness) in the middle seat. It would have to be a lap/shoulder belt installation with tether which I read is extremely difficult, but once it is in, it won't be coming out. I would like to move the 2.5 year old to the Evenflo Securekid and use the Chicco Keyfit 30 with base for the newborn.

I would really appreciate help!

Hi. I don't think the IMMI Go would work in that position. The My Ride might, because the feet are pretty narrowly spaced, or perhaps a seat like the Graco Contender where the base is pushed forward away from the plastic hinge covers some.

Keep an eye out in the coming months for the new Graco Tranzitions. It may be narrow enough or in the right places to work for you. http://carseatblog.com/34386/graco-transzitions-3-in-1-harness-booster-preview/

The IMMI Go is really ugly to install with the seat belt in a regular seating position, but with the center of the Explorer, it's extra tough.

Thanks for your input. I did verify with IMMI that the seat may be too wide for the middle of the Explorer due to those hinge covers.

I also just realized that the Keyfit for the newborn will expire when she is 4 months old. So I will have to figure something out with that when the time comes.

I was also looking into maybe the Ride Safer Travel Vest for the almost 5 year old.
