Question 3 Across in a 2003 ford explorer XLT. - Canada

By this time next year we will need to do a 3 across situation in our suv. Does anyone know the narrowest infant car seats in canada? We currently have a titan 65 behind the driver on a captains chair and then a graco nautilus in the middle which doesnt leave us with much room left. Both those seats are forward facing. Locally are only options are a safety first on board 22 which looka identical to the comfy carry. The graco snugride 30, the baby trend ez flex loc. the urbinni petal travel system. They dont seem to sell the seat alone for that one here in canada. I know baby trend doesn't normally fit wells but i have rather big babies out first was 9.7oz and 21.5 inches tall and our second was 10.3oz and 21.6 inches tall. Would love some insight if i can actually get a infant seat to fit. It would be going behind the passenger seat.

I'm not familiar with your vehicle - but have you tried installing all with the seat belt, and shifting the outer seat more toward the outside to gain more space?

Have you tried putting the Titan in the middle? Sometimes the order matters.

The SnugRide 30 and the OnBoard 22 (formerly known as the Comfy Carry) are both narrow and good options to try.

Since the titan is on a captain's chair it doesn't matter if i move it more towards the door. They are both installed with seat belt. I can't put the titan in the middle since the top tether isn't long enough to reach. I have tried moving seats closer to the door before when we had to fit another one and because of the bulk of the natulis it didn't work and the door wouldn't shut.

Can you please link or post a photo of your back seat?

Have you tried searching the 3 across thread for ideas, making sure to check alternate model years and names if there are any twins to your vehicle?

I found a exact picture off google. The middle seat is very narrow which is a problem. I also contacted CSFTL to see what they have to say,so far they said because we have a nautilus it is going to be a tricky 3 across.

Does the Titan install well in the centre? I'm thinking it might work well around that hard plastic in the hinge. You can get a tether extender from Evenflo if you call.

If that does work then that might leave ample room outboard.

Are you open to replacing the Nautilus? A Defender (at Walmart) might do nicely.

We turned our titan 65 back to rear facing. Were going to replace the nautilus with a defender and then hopefully be able to fit another rear facing titan 65 behind the driver seat if not we will look into a diono.
