How important is a steel frame?

I currently have two SecureKids (one DLX, one platinum) for my son to move into this fall when he turns 4, but now I'm wondering if (at least in our primary car) I should get him a combination seat with a steel frame instead? He's small and we are globe trotters who drive non-minivans, so the SK seemed like a natural fit. Any thoughts?

Not important. I wonder if I can find the study I remember, maybe Transport Canada from 2007?, but somewhat flexible seats actually perform very well, they allow more ride down time without adding extra stuff like EPP foam and Rip Stitch tethers and SafeCell (Britax) and React (Foonf) and Safestop (Diono). Steel reinforced seats are great, but they can be so stiff they force the kiddo to stop *too fast* in the crash, increasing injury risk. A regular plastic seat seems to strike a good balance of attaching them to the car and allowing good ride down time.

Only with an E when it's Remington, I think... https://www.pinterest.com/pin/122300946105996062/ ;)

Yeah, Fllo is steel reinforced, and has all the energy management stuff hidden in that tall base http://clekinc.com/fllo/

The Clicktight convertibles have a sticky harness release button, they are sending out lubricant for the recall :)
