We are flying on Spirit Airlines on August 1st & 8th with our newly turned 4 year old. He is 38 lbs and about 39" tall. He front faces in a Safety 1st Complete Air 65 SE in my car and a Safety 1st Complete Air 65 LX in my husband's car. I don't think either seat will fit on Spirit airlines (from what I understand, seats on Spirit's planes are more cramped than other airlines). I could borrow an Evenflo Secure Kid LX but I think it will be too wide as well.
This is what I found on Spirit's website: "Car seats that exceed 15 1/2 inches in width or 25 inches in depth may not fit in most Spirit Airlines aircraft seats. Seatbelt extensions may not be used to secure a car seat in any seat equipped with an inflatable seatbelt.".
I know it's not safe to check a car seat, so I would like him to ride in it on the flight, but I'm having trouble finding an inexpensive seat that he would fit in that would also fit on the plane. My sister suggested a Scenera NEXT but I doubt he will fit in one. I know about the CARES harness, but he needs a seat to go in the rental car when we ge to our destination. Any advice? Thank you!
