Car accident - need to replace seats

Hi,

I was rear ended yesterday. I was alone in the car, but my kids seats were in the car. We have a graco my ride and a grace high back booster. I know I need to replace them - I haven't talked with insurance yet if they have to be the exact same car seats, but I just wanted to know - the my ride was purchased in 2012 and i bought it because it was one of the more affordable ones with higher top harness slots. Is this still the case for the newer my rides? We have tall kids so I want to make sure it's still a tall slotted seat. I don't really have a lot of time to do much research so any info is appreciated.

I try to get seats with high top harness slots so they will last. Also we have a 3rd baby on the way and I'd like the seat to last for this one too (and probably move my daughter who is currently in the my ride to my son's nautilus that we only use occasionally in our other vehicle)

Thanks!

I believe the Evenflo Sure Ride has the tallest straps of any convertible and is a budget seat (sorry I'm not familiar with how much they both cost in Canada) but a quick google search tells me they are nearly comparable in price (i had to go to bestbuy.ca to find the Sureride)

I'm not sure of the rear-facing limit as I think its different then it is in the U.S. but I do know you can only use the bottom 3 slots (but generally a child hits the height limit before they need the 4th slot). It takes up a bit of space front to back too, so if you have a compact car, it's not the best seat for you.

Can you share age/weight/height of your kids? Is your middle child rear or forward-facing?

What exactly do you drive?

The MyRide is reasonably compact when most upright rear-facing, and quite long-lasting as far as shell height goes, but it's not tall once forward-facing, not at all.

she's 3 1/2, not exactly sure how tall at the moment (sorry we are temporarily living with my parents and don't have a measuring tape at our disposal at the moment), but we have tall kids - I believe she was on the 2nd slot from the top, but almost needing to go to the top slot. She's about 36 pounds.

I"m having a hard time finding the my ride anyway - it seems like it's been discontinued. Is there something comparable? I would consider the graco nautilus because my 5 year old is in one, but I don't like the head slump and she still falls asleep sometimes.

I drive a 2011 ford flex - my son will be in a turbo booster and the baby will be in a baby trend bucket seat in september (plan is to have baby in the middle seat, 5 yo behind driver and 3 yo behind passenger in whatever replacement I get)

I believe because of insurance I have to find something similar in price / size / specs etc. What can anyone recommend? Time is of the essence.

Is that evenflo seat that the OP mentioned an alright seat? I get that it doesn't rf for long, but we have other seat options for erf for the baby once he grows out of the bucket (have 2 first years TFs)

Thanks.

I'm having a hard time suggesting anything without knowing if your middle child is rear or forward-facing, I'm sorry. This will matter greatly with what you seats you get if you are doing three across in that vehicle.

The MyRide is still around for sure and the most likely place to get it in store is likely Sears.

I quite like the Harmony Defender at Walmart for forward-facing, and it's narrow and $160. I don't know that it's a very user-friendly booster seat although the fit is good - it's just hard to buckle with the shape of it and the slope of the arm rests. It's very tall.

Oh, I hadn't even thought about sears. In my area I though my best options were tru and walmart.

Ended up getting the evenflo titan / sure ride. my daughter (3 1/2 year old) is forward facing (sorry I thought that was obvious when I mentioned I was considering a nautilus since it doesn't rf)

I thought the titan looked kind of uncomfortable but my daughter liked it when she sat in it in the store so we picked that one. I like how much more narrow it is than the my ride and hopefully I'll be able to get 3 across with the titan, baby trend bucket seat and turbo booster. I won't know for a few weeks until I get my car back from the body shop
