Help me decide

So we have: a 4 year old who is about to be flipped FF, because he's 38.5 lbs. He's in a Size4Me, with plenty of height room. We also have a Britax Roundabout 55, a Chicco Keyfit, a Bubble Bum, and a backless Harmony. I drive a Hyundai Sonata, which is a PITA for 3 across, although I can make them work if one is the Bubble Bum.

We're going to be accepting 1 or 2 emergency foster kids. I'm going to eventually buy a van. But in the mean time, the kids will have to go in the car. So the question is. Do I buy... A Britax Frontier, a Graco 4ever, or Something Else, or Nothing?

If you buy something else I'd get something narrow. A radian to keep rf Micah (if you want) or a defender. Maybe a sureride.

I had a Defender and hated it in my car. A Radian only works RF in my car, which is why I never got one in the first place.

I just flipped my 4 year old nanny kid ff in a myride last week because she was weighing in between 38 and 39 lbs. but if she doesn't gain this summer I might flip her right back around after school starts for logistical reasons.

What about a Sureride? Such a wide range of harness heights/weights and not terrible next to a booster.

I think I'm covered with convertibles, I was looking for something more combination seat. But like I said, not the Defender, which was a terrible install in my car. It worked, but I hated it, and I HATED converting it from harness to booster.

How about a secure kid? Supposed to be narrow.

Oh, maybe! Although, is that the one with the short harness? I'm worried about securing children who are larger for their age. I know, I know, I really just need a van, but that's not happening until the fall.

It seems like you have quite a few options. I recently found out that Britax has longer harnesses for bigger kids. I don't know which seats they are for but getting one of those could help fit a bigger kid.

I try to have an extra scenera & backless booster at home for if kids need to go in a different car if I don't think I'll ever get the seats back (ie a transport worker shows up w a seat with 3 point harness & that big shield that comes down or with a booster seat for a 2 year old!!)

Where did you hear about Britax offering longer harnesses? The ClickTight convertibles have 2 different length settings. Is that what you are referring to?

It's really hard without knowing the age of the foster kids.

What about picking up an RSTV? In the event that you get two little guys, that gives you a three-across that doesn't need to be a BubbleBum.
