Seats out in sun? 😕

So...I have a True Fit (DOM 06/01/09) and a Radian (DOM 01/10) that have been left out on our porch for..well...far too long. They've been rained on and have spent time in the sun, and I'm sure they were snowed on too.

They were intended for friends who never came to pick them up and with no room indoors, that's how they came to live on the porch. What should I do with them? Are they even safe to use? I will dispose of them properly if they're not, but they were once fantastic seats and I would hate to get rid of them if they are still safe.

Thanks so much!

I personally would not use those seats and I would not think they were safe. AFAIK, there is no inclement weather testing on harness or LATCH straps, especially if they have been outside over the winter. Seats are designed to be used in vehicles. I would trash the seats

I left a stroller on our porch for a while and it grew mildew, not something I would want to chance on a car seat... I know it sucks but with this I'm in the better safe then sorry camp. Call up the manufacturer to be sure tho.

The Truefit only has another year before it expires, so no good reason to keep that one IMO. The Radian has another 2.5 years so I can see where it would be more painful to let it go - but months out in the elements sounds like a bad idea to me. If it were just extreme temperatures and sun then no problem, but getting soaking wet repeatedly is not something I'd feel comfortable with.

I would dispose. I have had a Cosco HBB outside my garage for a couple of months and that thing is a train wreck. The red button is so light pink it's almost white. The cover is flaking. And the plastic is extremely brittle. It was a newer DOM, too.
