Yeah my first post!
I have a 2001 grand cherokee and want to have 3 across fwd facing booster seats. My delima is that my jeep only has top tether anchors for the outer seats and not the middle. Is their an top tether anchor kit or do I have to go to the local hardware store and do it myself? Dealership could not help me, just got the run around. Just purchased the jeep so changing vehicles is not an option. Thanks for your help:)

There is no available retrofit from jeep. If you choose to install an aftermarket anchor, please don't buy it at the hardware store; use a reputable source such as an anchor manufactured by a child restraint manufacturer instead.

Although they do not officially approve use of their HDTA with other brands, it is from what I'd consider a reputable company and I'd be comfortable using it in my own vehicle, to the top weight of 168 lbs.

thanks for the help everyone. I went to a truck accessory store today, and they had several different styles of anchors that rate at least 1000lb and up. I might go that route if I have no luck with a child restraint manufacturer.

Cargo anchors are really not the same as tether anchors. The EZ-On anchor (part #100H) is only approved for use with ez-on products, but at least it's designed for having a standard top tether attached to it and it's readily available from any ez-on distributer.

If you mean actual booster seats that use the seatbelt to restrain the child, then you don't need a tether at all. If you mean harnessed seats, then carry on with the suggestions here. :)

This is an interesting thread. I am going to look up chevy suburban 2003 for retro fit top tethers for the 3rd row. If I find that they are not available for my car either this thread will come in handy. Also do you know of an ez-on distributor?

Thanks
