booster suggestion

My 7 year old boy is currently riding in a Britax Frontier CT - booster mode and a Graco Turbo Booster Surround. the Frontier is in my husband's car and when I put him in yesterday I noticed how bad the fit is. My son is pretty skinny and the seat is super wide. The belt is not retracting properly in this seat. He is about 51lbs and about 4'1" tall (49 inches).

I will try to get a picture later, but I know this is a common complaint about these seats (which I wish I had researched better before coughing up for 2 of them). I love this seat in FF mode, just not booster.

My DH is going to go ballistic if I buy another expensive seat - after convincing him these seats would last for ages.

Do you have any suggestions on a decent booster for $100 or so? I am in Canada also.

Another question: Would you consider buying a used booster? I would never consider it for a child/infant seat but since the booster is a positioning device, just wondering if it's more acceptable?

Hi! There are a lot of great boosters for ~100$: Graco, Harmony, some Evenflo, Little Tikes. If you have headrest support in that seating position and it doesn't interfere with the booster, it even gives you more options!

I would never buy used from a stranger. Although it's "just" a booster, it could have been in a crash. You will never know... Most people simply don't care about their seats.

For now, I would re-harness him in the Frontier until you find a new booster. The belt not retracting is a safety issue. Boosters are often in sale!
