Britax Boulevard, Advocate, Radian or Recaro...

Hello -

I am trying to narrow down a convertible car seat for my daughter. We want one that will last us a long time. She is 13 months and on the petite side - I am overwhelmed by all the info out there but think I've narrowed it down to these 4 - which would you choose? It's going into an SUV and will be our main seat that we don't have to move often.

Also, any tips on best place to buy?
Thank you!!

Welcome!
I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions, and if not, check www.carseatblog.com, they have a highlighted link to the favorite seats and why.
Which SUV? There's a big difference in a Suburban and a RAV-4, for example, so if we know for sure, we can maybe offer more specific seats (also, how far back do you need the front seats? Do you have plenty of room to sit in front of the infant seat? Some seats take up way more space than others when rearfacing :))

Thank you! Very interested in hearing everyone's insight as my brain seems to freeze up with all I'm reading :/

It's a 2002 Navigator, and we are shorter people so the drivers side isn't too far back. I'd like her to rf as long as I can too.

Well in that case the Recaro is out - it doesn't have nearly as high rf limits as the others- and as most kids outgrow the car seats by height rather then by weight I would go with the Britax as the (Click Tights) Boulevard and Advocate have higher rf height limits. Granted for a petite kid either will probably last her to 4 rf -not sure exactly how long forever is to you ;)

The Boulevard vs Advocate difference is the Advocate has extra "side impact" cushions on the side - things to consider if you think its worth it or not - is she sitting in the center of the car or on a side, some parents feel their child has better protection on a side (outboard) with the claimed extra side impact protection, but really we have no way of knowing how much protection it will give in a real life crash because crashes are so different then test in a lab. are you planning on more children? You may not want the extra width in the future if you have to sit next to it or put another car seat next to it ;)

Fantastic info - thanks so much! I was just looking into the differences of the boulevard and the advocate and that helped tremendously.

I guess my last ques would be if anyone has any tips on a good place to buy/good price? Anything else I should be looking for?

Thank you again! Such a wonderful site :)

I ordered our Advocate from www.albeebaby.com. I've ordered several things from them over the years (my oldest is 9.5, so going that far back! LOL).

I really like our Advocate. I was totally fine with the Boulevard, too, but I liked the pattern on the Advocate that I bought. My daughter has a ton of room and it will last her till she can go straight to a booster seat. It's really easy to install. ;)

Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, and Amazon are also places to price check. Amazon often has free return shipping (if it's Amazon and not a 3rd party seller). I'm not sure what Albee's return policy is. We bought a seat from them once and had a fine experience.

Pretty sure Albee will have a restocking fee...it would cost you to return there. But I was fine b/c I knew what I wanted.

Target and Kohls sometimes have good deals (esp if you combine with your store card, discounts, Kohls cash, etc), get free shipping, and can return in store.
