Diono after-market accessories

I noticed on Zulily today that Diono sells extra strap covers and infant inserts, the generic kind that are sold a BRU and are never supposed to be used in car seats. What's up with that? Do their car seat manuals permit use of these add-ons? If not, how extremely unethical for a car seat company to knowingly sell products that could compromise child safety.

(Yes, I know they can be used in strollers. But that's not how they're marketed or displayed.)

Diono is one of the biggest offenders in this area, but they're not alone.

Even Britax sells accessories that they say can be used in other car seats. I'm not sure about their infant insert, but I know my EZ-Buckle thing I bought for my Frontier 85 said it could be used on "most" brands of car seats.

They invented the Mighty Tite and 10,000 other little add-ons before they ever started making carseats, we've been loving to hate them for years because of it

I've never really heard an answer that thrills me about aftermarket/unregulated products. Mostly I assume that none of the companies that makes them has ever been sued when a child is hurt, so they just keep on making them.
