Foonf for younger Children - Want to like it

I have had the Foonf for 2-weeks for my 9-month old son (21#). I have it RF behind the driver in our MDX, and it leaves just enough room for my wife and I to drive confortably. About 50% of the time my son falls asleep, his head falls forward. I did one adjustment and got it reclined a little more, but it is still not as reclined as I can get our Britax Pavilion (currently being used FF for our 3-year old).

I could try and get more of an angle on the passenger side, but that would block the drivers view and we would need to rely on the mirror and blind spot monitor.

I tried the Peg Perego Convertible, but with the proper angle, there is not enough room in the drivers seat since it doesn't sit as high as the Foonf.

Should I try any other seats?
Should I use a non-foonf behind the passenger seat which has some more adjustment?

I am confused about everything going on with the Britax right now between the strap issues and changing from RF tether to foonf style rebound bar.

We we really want to like the foonf as it is so easy to tighten compared to Britax, we are just worried about comfort for longer car rides and the head falling down while sleeping issue.

The Foonf is, by design, more upright. At 9 months, the head falling forward is not a safety concern. If you feel it is a comfort concern, remembering that kids are more flexible than us, there are several options:
1. Switch to a different seat. There is nothing wrong with Britax seats, you do just need to check that the harness was properly attached. If it was, no problems, if not, once fixed there shouldn't be further issues. You might also like the Chicco Nextfit which is very compact even fully reclined but tall.
2. Try a different seating position- sounds like this isn't a convenient option for you.

Really, though, most kids don't seem to mind their heads hanging. As they get older, if they do, they learn to put them to the side.

I have considered the Chicco and Graco convertible seats, but am concerned that they are not as safe as they don't allow RF tethering. I don't mind paying more for a seat with this feature. Are seats without RF tether or rebound bars less safe? They are still recommended by this site and others.

Chicco claims to have an anti-rebound base design on the Nextfit. I can see that. It's similar to the designs of some seats that pass the Canadian anti rebound standard without an arb or tether by using bolsters on the side.

Rear facing tethering is actually falling out of favor, especially as in newer vehicles there are many airbag designs that have potential to be interfered with by using a tether on the seat frame. I'm to the point where in my own vehicle I won't attach a rf tether to a seat that is in use by anyone.

all seats on the market do pass testing and we don't have data beyond that. I understand the desire for rebound control, I have a preference for it myself. But in the end any properly installed and used seat is very safe; with rebound control we are talking the sprinkles on top of the ice cream sundae, you know? Nice to have but not essential...
