Installing the CCO in the 3rd row of the Mazda 5, and I hate the untethered install, but the 2nd row seat tracks are embedded in the floor. I've gotten "D rings" under there before (the other car seat back there is a TWE) and I can't remember how I managed it, but I know it wasn't easy, and today I could not get get it under that track.
Then I thought a zip tie might work. I put it through the loop, zipped it closed, not tight, but with a pretty long tail. The end went under pretty easily, but I couldn't get a grip on it, and when I grabbed it with some pliers, the angle was all wrong on the other end and the zip tie just got tighter and bunched up the loop on the D ring, so there was no way it could get through.
Then I saw it: a long skinny piece of plastic canvas* that I had for an unrelated project. I grabbed a piece of scrap yarn and a pulled it through the plastic canvas. Then I pulled the yarn through the webbing loop on the D ring, and tied a knot in the yarn. I fed the plastic canvas under the seat track, then pulled the yarn and then the D ring (webbing end) through after it, super easily.
Yarn was handy, but if you're not crafty, dental floss or kite string or whatever would work fine.
*I was using extra stiff plastic canvas, but I think the regular stuff would work too. For those not into crafts, here's a link: http://www.michaels.com/darice-plastic-canvas-clear/10812479.html#q=Plastic+canvas+&start=1
