Installing two car seats on a United flight?

Eackers

I plan to fly with my two kids and their car seats on a United flight. There are three seats on each side of the aisle. I booked tickets for the three of us to sit in the same row (obviously). But I just read on United's website that they require a car seat to be put in the window seat. There is no mention of what to do if you have more than one car seat. I called their customer service number to ask, and was told that where we will end up sitting will be at the flight attendant's discretion. I am not comfortable waiting until we are on the plane to find out that they are going to put one of my young kids in a row by himself. Does anyone have any written proof that states that I can put two car seats in the same row? I have found a statement on Delta's website that says that, but nothing on United's. Help, please!

This blog post might help. It has information and a link to the FAA's advisory circular regarding car seat allowances/restrictions. http://carseatblog.com/8037/guest-blog-flying-with-a-car-seat-know-your-rights/

Unfortunately, the information on traveling with two seats is kind of hazy, and yes, much of it will be up to the flight attendants. Window seats are preferred because a parent can't block other passengers when removing his/her child from the seat. Flight attendants are supposed to use their discretion when there's more than one.

But since you're in a three-seat row, that really shouldn't be a problem. They'll probably require both seats to be next to each other (window and center) with you on the aisle. Doing it any other way would cause you to block/reach over other people, which would be contrary to what they want.
