Question about seats in accidents.

So, just got a call that my nanny was in a bad car accident. She will be okay, and all I can say is thank goodness my kids were not in the car. There seats however were. I know the harness seat needs to be replaced, no questions asked. But what about the booster? It is a HB Parkway booster. Do boosters need to be replaced?

ETA: Any particulars to know about when submitting a claim to insurance for seats? I am going to provide any help to my nanny she needs to get things submitted ASAP.

Boosters will also either specify NHTSA criteria or just to replace after a crash. Britax goes by NHTSA criteria. If the airbags did not deploy, there were no injuries (even pain signaling soft tissue damage), there was no damage to the door nearest the seat, no visible damage to the seat, and the car could be driven from the scene, it may be reused. Any of those criteria not being met means it must be replaced.

There should be warnings in the manual about this, and providing them to the insurance company is often sufficient. The first person you speak to may not know, but escalating to a supervisor one level up if the actual adjuster has a problem with it usually fixes it.

Well, looks like the accident does meet all of the requirements for being able to re-use the seats (per Britax's website). I was under the impression that the car was not able to drive away, but apparently it was drivable. So looks like no need to replace seats. Here is the results of the accident per my nanny:

I could still drive my car after the accident.
There was no damage to the passengers doors where the seats were.
No air bags were deployed
I has no physical damage to my body
There is no visible damage to the safety seats.

So sounds like we are okay then. I still feel a little uneasy about re-using them. Hopefully that is just me being paranoid, and not my mama gut trying to tell me something.
