extended rearfacing convertible

HI,

I'm trying to decide what carseat to get for my 2.5 year old daughter. She is 37" tall and 30lbs. She has outgrown the Cosco Scenera for RFing. And I returned my Graco Size4me b/c I could never get the straps tight enough. So now I'm left with my Diono Radian. I really dislike moving that from one car to another, so I'd like to get another seat.
I've been considering the Rainier, but then I have read some reviews that the Radian is better. Most often my daughter is in the center seat. I just looked at the Boulevard too, but it doesn't seem like it would last quite as long as the dionos. We have a toyota tacoma and honda civic. Also, an added benefit would be something to take on the plane, but most importantly is the everyday use. I can always buy an inexpensive lighter seat for the plan even if it has to FF.
Thank you for your opinions!

I just wanted to let you know that the new Britax Boulevard Clicktight and Advocate Clicktight will last longer than *any* other convertible rear facing for height. They have 19.5" top harness slots (only the forward facing Britax Frontier is taller!) and you can continue to use them rear facing until the top of their head touches the bottom of the red headrest adjustment handle when the headrest is fully extended. She will easily get to age 4 rear facing and 6 forward facing in this seat...and probably longer. These last much longer than all the other Britax convertibles (including the Marathon Clicktight).

We got an Advocate CT for our 16 month old and we like it a lot.

I'm in a similar situation....dd is 20 months, 32lbs and about to outgrow her Cocorro, so needs a new seat. I have 3 radians, and may get a 4th, but i'm also considering the Sureride....it has top slots at 19.25", so almost as high as the Britax and for a good bit less money. ($87.64 on amazon right now). Its much lighter then the Radian, so might be a good travel option as well. FWIW, I have the most basic radians, the R100 and they have been fine. They go on sale on amazon for $181 pretty often (but are $207 right now, which is why i'm waiting...and doing a little research into other options. :))

I just wanted to let you know that the new Britax Boulevard Clicktight and Advocate Clicktight will last longer than *any* other convertible rear facing for height.

This is only sort of true. There are several convertibles on the market that are "maximally tall" for RF. That is, they will always be outgrown RF by weight rather than height (and are thus all outgrown RFing at the same time, at 40 lbs). They include the Britax Clicktights, the Graco "clones" like the Size4Me, and the Graco Milestone and 4Ever. The Chicco Nextfit is also almost maximally tall; there is a small percentage of very tall and skinny kids that would outgrow it RF by height before weight, but most will outgrow it by weight at 40 lbs.

It is true that these seats will last different amounts of time FFing by height.

(The new XE or whatever it is version of the Safety 1st Advance is very tall for RFing and also goes to 50 lbs RFing, so it can RF a really really long time. But it's a huge beast of a seat.)
