Backup seats for 2nd car (and possibly flying)

Kiddos are:
2.5 yrs, 30 pounds, 36-37"
4 months, ~13 pounds, ? height (size 6-9 clothes)

Toddler is currently in a Chicco Nextfit, rearfacing.
Baby is in Britax B-Safe, we have another Nextfit for her to go in pretty soon.

I have a Evenflo SureRide for the toddler's backup/travel seat. I see the max rear-facing height limit is 40".
Once baby is out of the infant seat, we'll need a backup/travel seat for her too.

Will my Evenflo SureRide be outgrown by my son rear-facing too soon? I'm wondering if I should be watching for sales for another SureRide, or if I should hand-down the SureRide to baby and get my toddler a different backup seat. Preferably cheap, we rarely use the backup/travel seats.

Thanks!

Have you flown with the Sureride RF? I would be a little skeptical that it will fit on a plane seat RF -- although maybe if you are able to secure a bulkhead seat it might work?

I haven't tried it myself, so I have no actual experience to back up my skepticism. I just was wondering because I was unable to properly RF my Britax G4 seat on a Delta plane due to space constraints. I FF'd my daughter instead (she was over a year and right around 20 lbs undressed at the time). In our car, the Britax G4 takes up significantly less space than the Titan (Sureride) and so I guess I assumed it wouldn't be possible to RF on a plane with it.

When does your Sureride expire? If the expiration is at least 4 years in the future, I would get something better for RF, like a Guide 65 or Scenera NEXT. Keep the toddler in the Sureride, FF him when necessary. Once he's ready for a booster, the Sureride can be used for the (current) baby.

Our spare backups have been Sceneras, so up to 40" RF (at least the ones we have). Gets my kids to age 2.5 (they are tall).

In the main van they can RF longer. But, I couldn't deal with heavy seats on a plane. We brought 4 seats last trip (when we had just the 4 kids). Thankfully they were all light! Oh, and my oldest used an Evenflo Maestro. He was, I think, age 5.
