Infant seat for Sonic

My sister is pregnant!! And apparently many moons ago I promised I would buy her a car-seat. As my own kids are firmly in boosters, I haven't really kept up with what's new. So the stats. They live in WI and baby is due in fall, so definitely an infant seat. They have a 2012 Chevy Sonic. I feel like the back seat isn't very deep and they are both tall, so fit might be tricky. What are the options?

The smallest front to back infant seats are the Cybex Aton seats, so you could put them on your list too.

Sonics are tiny! Why oh why do tall people always gravitate to the small cars, lol! What's your budget?

The Chicco KeyFit and Cybex Aton have the smallest front-to-back footprints. The Britax B-Safe 35 is also fairly smallish front-to-back. The Urbini Petal, I think, is pretty big. For example, I can fit the Aton behind my driver's seat without moving it, the KF with moving it forward a touch, the B-Safe 35 moving it forward a bit more, and the Petal plain doesn't fit.

Also, being tall people, I imagine at least dad will recline his seat quite a bit (my dh is 6'5" and does it and it's something I notice a lot at checkup events). If they can keep their seats more upright, they'll have more room for the baby's seat.

I used to have a car similar in size and I had a b-safe installed on the passenger side. I'm 5'5 with long legs and was really uncomfortable. My knees were touching the glove box.

The Aton would also be my suggestion!

I don't have any experience with a Sonic, but when my husband and I tried out seats in our Impreza, the Keyfit didn't fit at all without us being cramped. I never see it mentioned on here, but the Combi Shuttle fit with the driver's seat moved up a scootch. The only one that fit truly comfortably was the Cybex Aton, though.

Thanks. They're both over 6 ft and when I went to visit the back seat was a little cramped. I will definitely check those out.
