Particularly in the case of the Express, I would tether without a 2nd thought. Those tether anchors are not normal anchor hardware. They use seatbelt parts on the seatbelt anchor. I have no doubt they are just as strong as the seatbelts themselves.

Many do choose to tether over the weight limit. I did myself in my Honda, that until recently, said the same thing. They reversed their stance (thank goodness!) when installed with the seat belt but the limit still does apply when installing with lower anchors.

??? Are regular people now supposed to own LATCH manuals? What a mess. GM knows I have this van. If something new is overriding my owners' manual, I think I should be contacted.
