Next seat... - Canada (merged cross posted threads)

Ugh! I googled all sorts of stuff looking for any change to Canadian rules. Didn't find anything. Do you happen to have a link, Jen? Any idea what the heck Chevy wants us to do with a kid over 45-ish lbs? Ridiculous.

Particularly in the case of the Express, I would tether without a 2nd thought. Those tether anchors are not normal anchor hardware. They use seatbelt parts on the seatbelt anchor. I have no doubt they are just as strong as the seatbelts themselves.

I don't have a link saying that published US limits apply to Canada, other than the LATCH Manual. If you asked the manufacturer they'd confirm it. With kids over that weight the response to get a lighter weight seat, or booster them. Lousy, I know.

Many do choose to tether over the weight limit. I did myself in my Honda, that until recently, said the same thing. They reversed their stance (thank goodness!) when installed with the seat belt but the limit still does apply when installing with lower anchors.

Cathie, did you try anything out? I'm always curious to hear what works with those belts. Did you figure out the locking clip (if you need it).

??? Are regular people now supposed to own LATCH manuals? What a mess. GM knows I have this van. If something new is overriding my owners' manual, I think I should be contacted.
