Any experience with Geico replacing seats?

We crashed our van pretty good today. We weren't even going that fast, but the guy in front of us just decided to start driving backwards  and I couldn't stop because there was snow on the ground. Anyways, it was NOT drivable in any way, I couldn't even open my door. But the airbags didn't deploy so I don't know if they'll try to get around it that way. The claims adjuster I talked to today had no idea, and she said I should talk to the vehicle inspector guy. That worries me as well because I highly doubt he's going to see visible damage to the seats. I had a Recaro ProSport, Maxi Cosi Rodifix, and a Britax Parkway in there, but the Britax was unoccupied.

When my husband had a minor fender bender years ago, Geico told us to buy new seats and submit the receipts. They didn't give us any problems.

I was in an accident a few years ago. I had geico, the rep was amazing and totally understood the need for new seats. I bought them and sent the receipts in an email and I had a check within the week.

When I was sideswiped while parked, Gieco originally tried to say that they couldn't replace unoccupied seats. The seat I had closest to the door was actually cracked down the side of the head wing. I took pics and they agreed to replace that one, but not the other seat that had no visible damage. I asked for a supervisor and he approved the replacement after a 10 second conversation. My experience with them in general is that the intake reps have little to no authority to do anything except take down information and say no. They also tried to deny me a replacement tire.

Thanks everyone, I haven't talked to the inspector yet, but the guy at the body shop told me that it's totaled, so I will be replacing them no matter what. If they give me the runaround at all I'll just ask to speak with a supervisor!

Someone with Gieko rear-ended DH in 2009 or 2010 and totaled his car. We were reimbursed for DS's unoccupied seat with no hassle, but we went through our insurance.

When we got rear-ended by someone that was insured by Geico it was no problem. We had to submit the receipts for the new seats and send them pictures of the crashed seats with the harness cut on the 5 point seat and "Crashed-Do not use" written on the body of the booster.

I guess I could have updated! The damage inspector went out to look at the van, said it was a total loss, and we had no issues getting the car seats taken care of. He just had me leave them in there, obviously I wasn't going to use them after that crash, but the reimbursement check is already in the mail so I'm very pleased with how that went down. Thankfully we have a Kohls Safety center like a mile away from our house, so I got DD2 a Ranier and the older kids Parkway G1.1s for less than I could have gotten on Amazon, even.

Now I just need a new vehicle to put them in since we had to give the rental car back :(
